London Design Week 2023: Our pick of the best things to see and do
London Design Week starts on the 16th of September and runs through to the 24th of September; here are the shows, talks and events filed under ‘do not miss’ in our calendars!
Focus/23
18th - 22nd September
Design Centre, Lots Rd, London SW10 0XE
Chelsea Harbour has an extraordinary array of events and exhibitors on show. It has the bonus of starting a little earlier than the main shows, so you can squeeze it in without the rush to go elsewhere.
We will be showing our quilt collaboration with the Haines Collection at the show on Tuesday, 19th September. Haines founder Jules will be hosting a talk discussing creating a greener interior scheme.
London Design Fair
21st - 24th September
Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Ln, London E1 6QR
The most prominent design fair of the show will make its comeback on 21 – 24 September 2023. London Design Fair (formerly Tent London) is recognised as the UK’s leading showcase of cutting-edge design, brands, makers, pavilions, and galleries, returning to the creative heart of London at the iconic Truman Brewery this September. We’re particularly looking forward to seeing the collaboration between House of Quinn and Chelsea Vivash.
11:11 By Jan Hendzel Studio
15th - 24th September
Staffordshire St, 49 Staffordshire St, London SE15 5TJ
Our favourite local design district - Southwark South, is back for 2023 and stronger than ever. Our pick of the weekend is 11:11, an exhibition of design and craft excellence, showcasing the works of 11 established designers, makers and artists alongside 11 selected emerging artists from the local Southwark area.
Material Matters
20th - 23rd September
Bargehouse, Oxo Tower Wharf, Barge House Street, London SE1 9PH
Returning for a second year after a hugely successful debut in 2022, Material Matters will again take over Barge House behind Oxo Tower Wharf. It features an eclectic and innovative curation of material-led design and innovative material concepts in the fading beauty of the old wharf.
Soft Power at SCP
16th - 24th September
135-139 Curtain Road, London EC2A 3BX
Finishing up our round-up with the Soft Power exhibition at SCP, it is possible this one caught our eye because we are currently hunting for a new sofa (!), but no matter the motive, as long-time fans of Donna Wilson’s work we’re excited to see her turn her hand to a new scale of textile product.
