Production Stories : Patch Bournemouth
2024 was a year of huge projects, one of which was the design and production of 17 curtains for the newly opened branch of Patch in Bournemouth
The studio was commissioned to create patchwork curtains for the three main public-facing spaces in Patch; The Academy, The Studio and The Market. In these spaces, we played with colour and scale, drawing from the art-deco details of the building and using sail-making techniques to bring a slice of the beautiful Bournemouth coast into the building.
You can find the full project details on the commercial projects page, and here are behind-the-scenes shots of design and production, which took place from the first site visit in October 2023 to installation in October 2024.
We will begin with a few images from the design and production development followed by some amazing before and after transformations for each space.

Pattern pieces and a complex spreadsheet keeping tabs on all 169 pieces that had to be cut and stitched toegther to form these curtains.
Using every inch of space in the studio with the curtain flowing from the sewing machine down the stairs.
I have divided the images up into the three main spaces so you can see the before and after transformations, to kick us off we’re starting in the colourful Market.
